Beef Jerky

Beef Jerky is a silly dopey husky character, he was finished April 2006, and features a head constructed from all foam. January 11th 2011 a new version of Beef Jerky was created. A fluffier version of the same character.

About the character

Beef Jerky is a cute fluffy bouncy puffy husky doggy. He is as dopey, ridiculous and silly as you can get, troublemaking and has a pretty big affection for attention. He likes outside, and "walkies," teriyaki-flavored beef jerky, big hams, marshmallow Peeps, bouncy balls, things that squeak, and romping. He is an energetic and spontaneous character with an affinity for absurdity. He will always give you a hug if you give him a bag of Beef Jerky.

About the costume

The costume was built to be a male character, but since I am female, its hard to hide. So I don't mind that he turned out to be kind of ambiguous. His head was made with all-foam, his eyes are of plastic bowl construction. His nose, claws and teeth were made out of Sculpy, and the nose is painted Sculpy Ultralight. His eyelids are sewn vinyl. And he even has lots of plastic whiskers from his eyebrows and snout.

The tail is a hollow piece of shaped foam, shaped in an asymmetrical curl, and it is attached directly to the bodysuit. The bodysuit and handpaws are all machine-sewn.

He's been updated various times over the course of his existence, including changing his tail from a polyfill-stuffed tail to a solid carved foam tail, adding more fluff to his cheeks, and repositioning the angle of his snout. A new fluffier version of the character was created and debuted at Further Confusion 2011's Masquerade and won 1st place Journeyman category. The new costume was created off the old costume's body pattern and the head, eyes, nose and other features were referenced directly to ensure it looked like the same character. The interior seams of the bodysuit are all finished with a serger, and the head is fully lined. The fur length went from a short 1/2 inch to 1 inch pile to a dramatic 2-inch and 3-inch pile (much fluffier!).
